Chemical Peels…

Reveal a younger and brighter you

Why We Love It

Maintain and restore your skin’s health

Chemical peels offer multiple benefits that give back a complexion that glows, has a smooth, texture and allows you to look youthful and vibrant. There are chemical peels for every type of skin care concern that someone may have. A chemical peel is an acid solution that penetrates deep into the skin to help with wrinkles, texture, skin discoloration, and more. The peel is applied to your face to remove dry, dead skin cells, bacteria and regenerates new skin cells with minimal downtime.

What Is A Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel uses a chemical solution to improve the appearance of your skin, and helps to treat other problem skin concerns. In this treatment, a chemical solution is applied to your skin, which causes trauma or injury to your skin’s layers. It penetrates deep into your skin to help exfoliate and increases cellular turnover. The skin may or may not peel, depending on what type of peel is used during the treatment. The outcome will reveal youthful and healthy skin. The new skin is usually smoother with fewer lines and wrinkles, while having a more even color that is brighter in complexion.

What Are The Benefits Of A Peel?

  • Improves skin texture

  • Lessens fine lines and wrinkles

  • Minimize sun damage

  • Reduces acne scars

  • Reduces pore size and congestion

  • Improves uneven skin tone

What Results Can I Expect?

After a chemical peel is performed on the skin, the skin may visibly appear to be mildly pink, shiny and feel tight. Results will be seen within a few days to weeks after treatment. These results will be seen on the areas of concern that were treated for an overall improvement in appearance. If a patient receives a light to mild peel, there will not be any peeling as it was used to encourage moisture retention and hydration. With a medium to deep peel, the skin will begin to flake or peel within 2–3 days after the treatment. The sun-damaged areas of your skin may appear to be darker at first, then will lighten over time. Deeper peels can produce peeling for a week or more. For maximum results, a series of peels is usually recommended, and may be necessary for treating challenging issues and certain skin concerns.

What Is The Treatment Like?

For your chemical peel, we will provide a set of pre and post care instructions to follow that will ensure you receive optimal results. A chemical peel is typically performed in about 15 to 30 minutes, and may not require any downtime after the treatment is given. Before the chemical peel is applied to your skin, the skin will be cleansed and prepped with solution to remove surface oils and allow the peel to penetrate the skin evenly. The peel will be applied directly to the skin, and may require 1–3 layers depending on the level and depth of the solution used . The peel reacts with the skin to produce a “controlled wound,” allowing new skin to regenerate and emerge. A tingling or warm sensation is completely normal. Most peels will remain on the skin for only a few minutes. Some peels may require a neutralizing solution which is applied on the skin to deactivate the peel. After the peel is penetrated or neutralized, we may apply serums, moisturizer, and SPF before you leave the office.

Is There Any Downtime?

Recovery time will be based on the strength and type of peel that is used during the treatment. Depending on your individual needs and goals, we may suggest either a light, medium, or deep peel. Lighter peels provide almost instant rejuvenation that have limited downtime. Minor redness can be expected as patients start to see smooth and glowing skin about 2-5 days post treatment. Medium peels offer more notable results that typically cause minimal peeling. The skin may appear pink and dry to the touch as new skin cells are being regenerated. Pigmented lesions will start to crust after 1-2 days and gradually slough off over the next 3-6 days. Deep chemical peels are an aggressive treatment option for patients with severe concerns and skin issues. These types of peels are designed to have peeling that may last up to a week or more. With all chemical peels, the skin is more prone to sun exposure, and SPF use is essential for a safe and quick recovery.
